Sounds of Angels

January 26, 2012

Hillary recently performed this number while these missionaries sang to a large group of people.  She is the harp in the background.  It was wonderful!  This was the practice session at our home.

1. I spent the weekend in Stowe, VT with Brian. He had a meeting there and has been attending for 7 years straight. This was my 5th year and this year it was upgraded to the brand new lodge at Stowe, MT.

The lodge was ranked by National Geographic Traveller on their “129 Hotels We Love” list and I will tell you what, I now know why- It is on my love list too.

More on this tomorrow-it was a wonderful 48 hours.

2. I am so upset at Republicans, and this is exactly why I voted Democrat last election. I am so confused why Americans would want Gingrich as president. He doesn’t seem to have a moral backbone. I can’t believe that Mitt Romney didn’t pull off a victory in South Carolina and I am shocked that people would choose Gingrich over Romney. And don’t get me wrong, it has nothing to do with religion, intact for me it has everything to do with the economy.

Frankly, at this point, I am hoping Stephen Colbert can pull it off. I would rather have my favorite comedian than either democrat or republican at this point. I can’t vote for Obama again, because I don’t like his socialistic agenda, but I just get stuck because the republicans can’t produce a candidate worth having. Cross your fingers-there is still lots of damage to be done.

3. The elections have led me to feel anxiety of sorts. Anxiety that we should be more prepared both physically and spiritually. We should have our houses in a little more order and be consuming less. We should have our finances a little more under control and be preparing for lies ahead.
Yikes-

4. I watched this incredible clip on former St. Louis Cardinals Slugger, Albert Pujols that Brian showed me this weekend. This is outstanding story below. He has done amazing things behind the scenes, prepare to be inspired.

5. Yep, it has happened the Pat’s are headed to the Super Bowl, this house is stoked.
I have some happy boys! We love Tom Brady!

6 Things to Know Today

January 19, 2012

A tad bit mundane-I admit!

1. I am so excited that Stop and Shop, one of my grocery stores is offering delivery, yep it is $6.95 a visit through their Peapod program, but I guarantee I am going to save money not going to the store and time to boot. They are offering free delivery for the first 60 days and yes, you can still use coupons. I couldn’t be more thrilled…never a happier mom. I think I will be buying less and be more organized. Downloading the new iPad app now.

2. I have hired Hillary as my personal dietician and cook. She is going to be making healthy meals for me on occasion. I need a coach and she has lost 15 pounds this year just eating healthy and exercising. I am all over the place with eating and exercising, so this will be a nice transition to a healthier lifestyle. I have agreed to a program and goals with Brian’s companies wellness program.

3. I am still scanning, I am doing freshman year at college now. Oh boy, many life lessons learned in the dorms, I am in this self actualization stage seeing how all of these early experiences made me who I am today.

Hanging out at Lake Powell with the Freshman Roommates!

4. I was in NYC last week for one night and took all of the kids- posting about that tomorrow. Hillary and I saw Darren Criss (From Glee) in “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying on Broadway”- Spectacular. He is so gosh darn cute! Photos coming soon.

5. My driveway has been a sheet of ice, intact, my car was stuck on it this week. Ice melt doesn’t even seem to help, I need about 80 degree weather to help it. The weather has been arctic, I am ready for winter to end.

6. Brian and Noah are home from Utah, Noah was able to get in 3 ski days and 2 Utah Jazz games and lots of attention from extended family. Thank you to everyone who hosted him.

Here is what is happening with my life- Get Ready!

I am so sick of the clutter in the top of my closet and attic. I have boxes and boxes that are chuck full of photos and albums that I hate.

Some years I was better than others at doing scrapbook. Scrapbooks have changed too-
I hate the Creative Memory look we were doing in the 90′s, I hate that I just pasted photos on a page and I hate the 400 binders they are in taking up space.

Last year, I started converting at least 2011 into digital Shutterfly and MixBooks. I was good at some points and lazy at others. Gees, when you shoot digital there are 50,000 photos.

This Friday night, Brian was gone and I just got on a rampage. I ripped out all of my college stuff and tried to tackle it.

It has been horrendous. But I am making strides.

College is broken up into stages-I have my first two years of college, my mission to Japan, and my last two years of college when Brian comes into the scene. I am currently working on “The Last two years.”

Below- Brian and I interning in Washington DC Spring Semester 1993

To top it off, I travelled a lot and even took a million photos back then.

Then I got side tracked and started a “Senior year” in high school album that I have nearly completed. Oh boy, the hair was big-and the skin damaged from tanning. (Me-Bottom left)

That led to my Hong Kong Trip, that I completed. Hooray! And I worked on Israel 1992 to boot.

Masada, Israel 1992

It is such a mess that I have decided that this is my number one- UNO #1 resolution this year, is to get 20 years of photos organized.

I am scanning all of the old photos and entering them directly into a Mixbook, journaling as I go.

The problem is… I have spent like 3 days straight and haven’t made a dent and I mean morning to night.

With Noah and Brian in Utah, I have had much more time to get things accomplished, but they are headed home.

I would need 10 years to get it all done and that make me depressed.

The whole thing has made me motivated and equally depressed.

Depressed that my life has gone by so fast and I weigh 30 pounds more.

Motivated that I have lived such a great life and I see God’s hand in the works.

Depressed that I have so many boxes of photos.

Motivated that I have completed something in this department.

Depressed knowing I will never have a free weekend again.

Motivated seeing how much Brian and I have grown.

Realistic that my house is a dump and laundry is piling up as I scan.

Oh joy! I need a plan a photo plan- Any recommendations?

Utah, Scanning and Freezing Temps

January 16, 2012

I just can’t get going with the blogging. Last week I was a single parent all week. Brian was in sunny Miami, NYC and Philly. He came home for a day (we thought) and ended up having to rush back to NYC and then he was off to Salt Lake City. He ended up taking [...]

{TIME} My most precious investment

January 10, 2012

It’s the 10th of January, probably time for me to get more philosophical about how I am feeling about this new year and what I want to get accomplished. But the number one thing I am fiercely defending right now is my time. I found this quote on the internet but there was no credit, [...]

I was there and it was interesting with Romney and Occupiers

January 9, 2012

I went to a New Hampshire rally in Bedford tonight and heard from Mitt Romney. (Photograph: Angela Hughes) I hesitated to go because every major media outlet was there and crowds don’t excite me, frankly a spinning class was calling my name. But gees, this is historical so why not be a part of history? [...]

Date Night NYC Part 2

January 9, 2012

When I found that I couldn’t walk anymore (See last post), I ended up at The Plaza hotel, where the Christmas decor was still up. It was so fun to see an Eloise themed tree. Brian treated me to dinner at our favorite Japanese restaurant and besides being madly in love with him, I am [...]

Overnight in the Big Apple- Much Needed Fresh Air

January 6, 2012

This week started off with an overnight trip to NYC. Brian was working down in the city and invited me to an overnight trip with him. He flew me down there, took me to a Broadway show and out to dinner at my favorite Japanese restaurant. I only had a few hours of daylight once [...]
